WINTER SALT AWARENESS WEEK 2024:
From pathways to highways: tribal perspectives WEBINAR
Thursday, JANUARY 25th FROM 12:30 - 1 PM
Winter Salt Awareness Week is back and going national! Collaborators from across the country have come together to educate the public on salt pollution, how it affects public health and freshwater ecosystems, what’s being done, and how to support local efforts. Experts from a variety of backgrounds will discuss the issues of winter salt through daily lunchtime live streams on the Wisconsin Salt Wise YouTube channel from 12:30 to 1 pm.
On Thursday, Bill Quakenbush from the Ho-Chunk Nation will share how road salt has affected areas of tribal interest and Jeremy Weso from the Menominee Nation will profile the financial and technical challenges of trying to reduce salt use as the Menominee CO highway commissioner.
