Land Use and Protection
The Land Use and Protection Task Group's focus is improving land development decisions that restore or protect natural areas.

Project examples: removal of non-native/invasive species, wetland restoration, land purchases, and land-use planning.

Projects Funded:

  • St. Catherine's High School Environmental Club, equipment to remove non-native and invasive species from Colonial Park (Racine).
  • UW-Extension and Sustainable Racine, "Planning for Watershed Sensitive Development" Conference.
  • Chiwaukee Prairie Preservation Fund, Land management equipment to encourage appropriate prairie plants to attract the Karner Blue butterly, and maintain proper fire breaks.
  • Kenosha/Racine Land Trust, Inventory of the Mary Ellen Johnson Preserve along the Root River, (Racine).
